well today was fun.

My Baby!  and her baby!

We hugged a lot of necks and had fancy cupcakes.

And I took mainly no pictures.

Today is Donita's birthday and she doesn't like anyone to make a fuss, so we fussed often.  and loud.  and then we fussed a little bit more.

Good friends ignore friends who request fusslessness.

We had I-talian for dinner and it was yumm-o.

I observed that you know it's a good dinner when you feel a little bit disappointed when your plate is empty.

(The fancy cupcakes helped.)

not the fancy cupcakes

We also drove all the way to Baltimore with only one stop, if you don't count that quick stop on the side of the road to switch drivers while Peanut hollered loudly.

He might have hollered quite a bit, i.e. nearly all of the last hour of the drive, but I'll never tell.

The bride is stunning and the groom is nearly as adorable as he was when he was waist-high and had to be reminded to go the the Little Boy's Room.

True story:  I love him even more now :)

Now it's 11:14 in the p-m and I'm so sleepy I might have staggered from the car.  What can I say?

(Nothing.  I can say nothing that won't make me sound a little on the pitiful side.)

For this reason there will be neither editing nor spellchecking,
so whatever we get, we get.

I'll try to take a couple of pictures of that stunning bride and adorable groom for you tomorrow but no promises.  You might remember my track record.

Happy Friday!

p.s.  The nuptials will be held outside at 4:00 p.m.  It is projected to be two-thousand degrees at that time.  Your kind prayers will be appreciated.  I've heard beautiful brides tend to get warm in voluminous wedding gowns...

pictures. of the house.

So somewhat bright & early we're hittin' the road because another one of my little darlin's dared to grow up and get married.

I know, right??

But it'll be great and also wonderful, and I'm completely sure the drive to Baltimore will be worth it because SO MANY HUGS.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our new (really old) house.

You know, the house that will soon be our home :)

Happy Thursday!

zee dishwasher, she is empty

So I emptied the dishwasher.

I also chopped up some fruit (yaay!) and threw together my famous-in-my-own-mind corn/bean salad for my friends and some potato salad just because I could.

I'm worried about the corn/bean salad because my friends don't like beans (seriously, unnamed friends??) so I tried to maximize corn/minimize beans and still get the marinade right.

Just between you and me, I have concerns.

Anyway, that's mostly all I've gotten done, but since that is more (visible) progress than I've had in quite some time I am considering it a win and heading to the pool.

(p.s.  Oh how I dream of sleeping more than five hours at night.  Someone text me around midnight and remind me to partake of some melatonin with chamomile?  Mucho thanks.)

Anyhoo, time's a-wastin, but here are a few pix of what's been going on around here this week.

I got a smoothie and it was delightful.

p.s.  this picture makes me feel all happy inside; I dunno why.

Remember when we went to Target and ate our Chicken Minis?  That was fun.

Even at 80% off...

...these two verge on priceless :)

Behold,

This was my breakfast yesterday (riveting!).  It was so fresh and beautiful I had to take a picture because I'm just that lame thankful.

Summer fruit cut up by me in my very own cleaned-up kitchen.

Swoony(Hi Shannan!)

(p.s. there's a lot of fiber going on in that bowl I can tell you right now...)

Hi Peyton!

True story:  This sweet baby rolled over twice in his crib on his five-monthday.  While not one anybody was watching.

Little goober.

Okay!  That's it and also that's all.  For now.

I hope your summer is going swimmingly.

(HA!  Swimmingly!  Cause we're going to the pool, get it?)

(couldn't be helped...)

Happy Wed-nes-day!

the one without a title

Remember way back last week when I mentioned being a little nuts?

Yeah.  Still haven't recovered.

Life is GOOD!

...but I can't seem to get caught up, and until I unload my dishwasher - -

at the very least(!)

I surely can't blather on and on regarding various miscellany on the worldwideweb.

That would be downright irresponsible and also ridiculous..

I sure do miss you, though!

ttfn!

the way

Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life.

No one comes to the Father except through me.

because a full life is a good life

Things are nuts around here.

I know you must think I make these things up but no.  I do NOT make these things up.

The chaos that is my unkempt home is shocking even to me, and yet I'm powerless to effect change right now.  I've been home for four days and have yet to unpack.  Audrey is here and is, and I quote, MAD, because she wants her mama.

I'm not gonna lie to ya.

I want her mama too.

Happy Tuesday :)

security

If I take the wings of the morning

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea...

...even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 139:9-10

favorite reads: "the truth of the matter"

Today we're heading home, back to unscrubbed floors and dusty tables.

Back to the empty refrigerator and mile-long to-do list.

Back to my people (Oh how I do  love them!)

...and if I have anything to say about it, back to a hearty hug from my sweet Mary just as soon as can be arranged.

This week's favorite read was written by my friend/daughter-figure/role model Mary.

She has some stuff going on.

Hard stuff.

It isn't the first time, and quite possibly won't be the last.

There's a lot of hard stuff to be had, after all.

But even with the hard, she has a lovely faith that leaves me looking on in awe and determination.

I wanna be just like her when I grow up.

six on friday. just because.

1.  I loved reading every single page of 7.

In fact, I loved it so much I finished the last page and wanted to go straight back to the beginning to read it again... and I don't remember ever doing that before.  My plan is as follows:  As soon as I get home I will pull out my multicolored highlighters and go to town!

I see some serious adventuring in my future because this is certainly not a book one can read and then do nothing.

2.  Speaking (kinda) of doing nothing, Angie made me cry.  and want to be better.  I can't wait to see how God's going to grow me.

(I think.)

(I might also be a little bit scared.)

3.  I have consumed approximately 300 Pepsi-Colas in the previous week.

Just thought I should share.

Smile Donna!

4.  I might have developed an allergy to the sun because I've had some odd little bug-bite-y/pimply spots popping up.

I have no idea when it happened, but I am SO 92 years old.

5.  The little girls are mostly teetering on the edge of hysteria and coma.

Fun can wear one out.

6.  Our huge decision of the day is are we going to load up and drive home tonight or get up in the morning and face the traffic.

Either way we feel like some sort of sad little vacation cliche.

All I know for sure is I just remembered there was no lunch at the pool, which means today consisted of two blueberry pancakes and a handful of potato chips with pepper (YUM), so at this point who really cares about, well, anything else.

...for now I'm off to find something edible that is not a Pepsi-Cola.  I'll catch ya on the flip side - when perhaps I will more effectively string together my sentences!

See ya later, alligator!

p.s.  No spellcheck/editing tonight.  Don't judge.

the one where i hardly tried at all

I'm just going to give it to you straight.  This recreating business is exhausting.  Already today I've played a couple of rousing games of Beach Bingo, assisted in creating a few dragons sporting fancy accessories, read half a book, had both some Cheerios and leftover pizza and watched half of an episode of Dallas circa 1977.

Now I only have an hour or so until I have to get to work and I still have to squeeze in my nap.

So here's a few pictures with nary a commentary to be found.

To quote my sweet Audrey, you so welcome  :)

Happy Thursday!
